Mission
WMMIAEC’s mission is to increase
the number of qualified ethnic minorities, and women employed
in the architectural, engineering and scientific professions.
Who We Are
WMMIAEC is dedicated to increasing the
number of qualified ethnic minorities and women in Consulting
Architecture and Engineering throughout its member’s
regions of operation. WMMIAEC was formed and built by the
efforts of local, West Michigan consultants. Having its
start in 1991, WMMIAEC has implemented a strategy of community
outreach, setting the financial cornerstone for this group,
and creating the infrastructure and leadership for continued
growth and success.
We are a member-led organization with
each member firm contributing the talent, opportunity and
financial resources necessary to make WMMIAEC successful.
Our current member firms include leading engineering and
architectural companies in Michigan, and have collectively
worked on over 75,000 separate projects in the communities
in which we work and live. Therefore, it seemed only natural,
after designing so many schools, hospitals, libraries,
museums, roads, water resources, homes, and parks, and
contributing to the success of many businesses and communities,
for our members to apply their creative energies to establishing
an organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for
minorities to participate in the architectural, engineering,
and scientific professions.
Our Future
As WMMIAEC continues its efforts to meet
its mission, it recognizes, as a member-led organization,
that it must continue to cultivate participation and leadership
to drive the organization forward. Further, we want to
expand our grant giving capabilities by developing a broader
supporter network, collaborating with groups and individuals
who share in our mission.
Finally, the ultimate measure of success
will be identifying talented minority and women students
with a desire to participate in and advance the professions
of engineering, architecture and sciences, and helping
them achieve their dreams. Along the way, our firms and
communities will benefit by an expanding, diverse and vibrant
work force.
